What is Breaking Rent Matters?
Breaking Rent Matters (BRM) is a growing grassroots movement (that will be known as Breaking Housing Matters starting in 2023) focused on solving America's housing crisis worldwide through the development of a viable, locally determined private-public alternative to rent control. To accomplish this, we are gathering diverse perspectives through online surveys and focus groups to ultimately make housing more affordable for all.

Peter de Krassel, founder of Breaking Rent Matters and proposer of the HSA, is an American lawyer who represented developers and landlords and is now a tenant living and working in Hong Kong. Peter is a social commentator with extensive background on China and U.S. relations who has written six books on socio economic issues. His other works can be found on his website Custom Maid Books.
